The small village of Vibbiana (about 700 m asl) is situated very close to the well known Orecchiella National Park, well known for its uncrowded trails and byways from which visitors can enjoy the local wildlife and flora. These include royal eagles, royal owls, hawk, deer and the recently re-introduced rams and wolves.
The village itself, which is famous locally for its cheese making, is a charming, typical small Tuscan hill village, with mediaeval origins.

The nearest large village, 2.5km away, is San Romano di Garfagnana (café, bank, restaurants, various shops, sports ground)
while the market town of Piazza al Serchio is less than 5km away.
Piazza al Serchio provides all day to day shopping and services as well as a weekly market, open air swimming pool and train station the main Pisa-Lucca-Aulla line.
Vibbiana is about 1 ¼ hours from Lucca by car and just over 1 ½ hours from Pisa.
Walking and cycling opportunities abound in the area. In addition, there is local skiing just over half and hour's drive away while the coast and the well equipped ski resort of Abetone are less than 1 ½ hour away by car.
A 6 hole golf course is located about 10 minutes drive away.
